Fancy Folk Art

Welcome to the final day of the Papertrey Ink January Countdown and the second design team group post day. This time around our focus is on Fancy Folk Art. Be sure to check out Nichole Heady's blog for more info on this set.

Each of us have chosen an inspiration piece to be inspired by.  Here's mine...
Yep.  I'll take one of these please!  Found here.
The colors in the inspiration piece are soft and subtle yet stunning and gorgeous, all at the same time.  This was my inspiration for today's ensemble.
I began by stamping the Fancy Folk Art arrangement outline in Hero Arts wet cement ink, a light gray.
Then filled with melon berry, sweet blush and some more HA wet cement inks.  The rug features the slightest pop of navy, I incorporated this into my project via the sentiment.  Here's How: I stamped the sentiment onto the card front (over the flower arrangement) and also onto scrap cardstock; I hand cut the banner portion from the scrap cardsock and attached it to the card with dimensional adhesive.
For the tag, I decided to go for a softer look by omitting the navy.  Don't get me wrong... I love the navy used above. I just wanted to switch things up a bit for the second project.
I stamped both the outline and leaves in HA wet cement and filled the flowers with melon berry and sweet blush inks, all onto a die cut Tag Sale #5.  Finished the card off with a topping of white silk ribbon.  Here's How:  I cut two strands which I threaded through the top hole; then tied together with an additional length of the same ribbon, tied into a bow.

Well, there you have it. I hope you've enjoyed! Just remember that all the new items used today will be available for purchase beginning January 15, at Papertrey Ink.

Now, be sure to see what the rest of the Papertrey Ink design team has in store for you today...
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Green Grass Stamps Christmas Tags

So, I'm a bit behind in sharing these tags with you today. It being the holiday season, I've been kinda busy. So on with the show! Today, I bring you a few simple tags using the new Green Grass Christmas Stamps and more of the shimmer cardstock I can't seem to ever put down... Started with three die cut tags cut from kraft card stock using the Tag Sale 2 Die and a color combo of Kraft, Pure Poppy, Ripe Avocado, Plum Pudding, Lemon Tark, Dark Chocolate & White.
Stamped the same bow (used on this card) from Made With Love, onto white shimmer cardstock. Cut it out and attached to the top of the tag. Stitched a button into place with embroidery floss and left the ends long to allow for it to be tied to a gift.

Onto the bottom of each tag, I stamped an adorable cross stitched scalloped border (which I love!), from Warm Winter Wishes, in Versamark ink and then layered a stamped sentiment on top.
It may be a little hard to tell in the photos, but I love how the shimmer of the paper still shines through the ink, even when stamped with a solid image. It makes the ink appear as if it's shimmery itself.

Here's A Tip: When attaching the hand cut shapes, I adhered the tops directly to the tag and popped the base of the shape up with a couple pieces of dimensional adhesive. Giving the shape a little dimension, but yet the button can be tied through the tag hole, at the top, with out much bulk.
Next up, the tree and star from A Very Jolly Holiday. Stamped the tree in Ripe Avocado and the star on Lemon Tart onto white shimmer cardstock, let it dry, cut out and attached with a Lemon Tart button.
More of that beautiful shine!
Finally, mittens from Warm Winter Wishes stamped in Plum Pudding, onto both the tag and white shimmer cardstock.
To the top, I attached a die cut snowflake, from white shimmer cardstock, using the Peace Be Still Die Collection and stitched a Plum Pudding button through the center.

That's it from me today, hope you enjoy your weekends!

Hero Arts Holiday Tag Challenge

Hello my friends! Hope you had a great weekend. I was finally able to put up our Christmas decorations and tree on Saturday. I plan on sharing some photos with you soon. Today, I am waiting for some snow! My town is under a sever winter storm warning and there's talk of a lot of snow. Just trying not to get my hopes up too much in case nothing much happens.

The last challenge over at the Hero Arts blog was to create Holiday Tags. I really enjoy making tags so I couldn't pass the challenge up. Here is what I came up with... I went with an unusual but fun Christmas color combo of: Spring Moss, Aqua Mist, Melon Berry and Gray. I kept them super simple by stamping and cutting out an image (from Winter Swirls), stamping a sentiment (from Hero Arts Holiday Messages) over the stamped image and the tag, then attach the image with dimensional adhesive. Finished the tag off with satin ribbon tied to the top with embroidery floss.

Here is the Melon Berry tag, with a snowflake button...
Here is the Aqua Mist tag, with an ornament hung from embroidery floss...
Lastly is the Spring Moss tag, embellished with a rhinestone star topped tree...
Well, thanks for stopping in today. Hope you enjoyed and have a wonderful start to your week.

November PTI Blog Hop

Hello and welcome everyone! Today is PTI Blog Hop day and this months challenge is in honor of the fast approaching holidays. With this in mind, we are to create a quick and inexpensive tag or wrap idea that can be the perfect solution for "grab and go" gifts.

I was on a roll for this challenge, I have a few creations to share with you. First up are Tags... This tag set was stamped using labels from Vintage Labels set, images from Winter Swirls set and sentiments from Signature Christmas, then cut out by hand (since I don't have the label 1 dies). Colors used were: Dark Chocolate, Scarlet Jewel & Spring Moss. Each tag was finished off with just a touch of glitter added to the swirls and dark chocolate floss. To use just stamp or write To & From onto the back side and attach to the gift.

Keeping with the quick and inexpensive ideas, here are a couple of bags...
It doesn't get any easier than this! Just stamp a sentiment in Ocean Tides and a few snowflakes in white, both from Snowflake Serenade. Then embellish with a big button bow, glitter and call it good.
Last and certainly not least is a simple yet classy look. Started with a strip of Scarlet Jewel cardstock, stamped it with snowflakes from Winter Swirls in Versamark. Layered one of the tags from above onto the strip and embellished with ribbon. Easy Peasy!

I do hope you enjoyed my creations and found some useful and easy ideas to help you out this holiday season (which will be here before we know it!). Thanks for hopping by and have a blessed Thanksgiving day tomorrow!

EBTKS Sketch Challenge #1

Hello There! Over at the Everything But The Kitchen Sink blog there having their first sketch challenge. What a great sketch, I just had to play along... Here is what I came up with...
I created the panels by adhering double sided sticky tape and then gave it a good coating of Doodle Bug Bon Bon glitter. For the center image I went with a tag to play along with the latest Inspire Me Challenge #4: Tag It, over at Dawn's blog.

Stamped the In Bloom flower in brown onto the tag and cream card stock, cut out the layers and adhered with dimensional adhesive. Tied a tab of ribbon, embellished with a little more glitter and attached a sentiment.

On the camera front, I received an email today that it has been repaired and has been shipped back to me. Hurray!

Well, thanks for stopping by today!

More October 2009 CARDS Publications

Hello everyone! Here is another card and a couple tags that were published in the October 2009 issue of CARDS Magazine.
Here is how the cake was created: cut cardstock strips, emboss strips with swiss dots, adhere strips together (with a cardstock backing), embellish with ribbon and trim then adhere the assembled cake to the card base. Once attached to the card embellish the cake top. The green cake base was cut by hand then attach just under the cake.
The tags were punched from cardstock, punched with a scalloped border then embossed with swiss dots. Stamped and cut out peas, attached to the tag with a sentiment. The buttons were threaded with twine then the twine was threaded though the tag hole and tide to the bows. If you need any more info please let me know.

On the camera front, my mom and sister have graciously offered to share their cameras with me occasionally while mine is in for repairs. Hope to share some new stuff with you soon.

Hope you have a blessed day!
