Love Tags

Hello, and welcome to the final day of the Papertrey Ink December Countdown and the second Design Team Group Post. Today we are showcasing the lovely 2010 Love Tags set. We are putting this set to use and making both Valentine's Day and "year-round" project, to show just how versatile this set truly is. Each design team members is working with a different image and I chose to work with my favorite, the Solid Heart Background.

First up a Valentine's Day favor...
My Valentine favor started by die cutting and assembling a kraft Favor It Box 3. Stamped a sentiment from 2010 Love Tags in Pure Poppy into a white cardstock strip and attached it across the bottom of the favor box.
Die cut a Pure Poppy scalloped circle, using the Limitless Layers: 1 3/4" Circle Die Collection. Topped the scalloped circle with a punched Pure Poppy solid heart background circle image and attached it to the box with dimensional adhesive. Embellished with a medium heart, die cut from a stamped Hibiscus Burst solid heart background image, and a Hibiscus Burst button. Finished it off with a Hibiscus Burst ribbon bow to tie the top shut.
Next up, a "year-round" baby card. This baby card started with the a hand stamped Bloom Builders #2 flower, which then needed a base.
Here's How: For the card base, I started with one of my favorite images, from the Mat Stack #2 Collection set, to create a rather large circular doily pattern. After marking the center of the pattern, I lined up one of the image corners with the center and stamped.
Inked up the image again and stamped a second time over lapping the first image.
Repeated the step above, rotating the image slightly each time I stamped. I found that the process went much smoother if I located points, in the image, to line up the same way each time I stamped.
I continued until I had stamped all the way around and completed the entire circle.

I am so in love with the way this turned out!!! At this point, you could finish it off with a stamped sentiment and you'd have yourself an amazing single layer card! But I topped mine with a flower I had already made.
Here's how: Once the flowers were die cut from white cardstock, I masked off each petal (using Post It Notes) and stamped each with the solid heart background image from 2010 Love Tags. The small flower was stamped in Sweet Blush and the medium flower was stamped in Hibiscus Burst. Then assembled, see Nichole Heady instructions here.
Here's A Idea: Once the flower was assembled, I gave it a bit more dimension by curling back the end of each petal using the round handle of a paint brush. Embellished the center with a button and then attached to the card base. Finished the card off with "baby" stamped in True Black.

That's it from me today. Now, be sure to stop by and see what the rest of the Design Team has in store for you tonight:

Thanks for visiting, hope you have a great one!

Green Grass Stamps Christmas Tags

So, I'm a bit behind in sharing these tags with you today. It being the holiday season, I've been kinda busy. So on with the show! Today, I bring you a few simple tags using the new Green Grass Christmas Stamps and more of the shimmer cardstock I can't seem to ever put down... Started with three die cut tags cut from kraft card stock using the Tag Sale 2 Die and a color combo of Kraft, Pure Poppy, Ripe Avocado, Plum Pudding, Lemon Tark, Dark Chocolate & White.
Stamped the same bow (used on this card) from Made With Love, onto white shimmer cardstock. Cut it out and attached to the top of the tag. Stitched a button into place with embroidery floss and left the ends long to allow for it to be tied to a gift.

Onto the bottom of each tag, I stamped an adorable cross stitched scalloped border (which I love!), from Warm Winter Wishes, in Versamark ink and then layered a stamped sentiment on top.
It may be a little hard to tell in the photos, but I love how the shimmer of the paper still shines through the ink, even when stamped with a solid image. It makes the ink appear as if it's shimmery itself.

Here's A Tip: When attaching the hand cut shapes, I adhered the tops directly to the tag and popped the base of the shape up with a couple pieces of dimensional adhesive. Giving the shape a little dimension, but yet the button can be tied through the tag hole, at the top, with out much bulk.
Next up, the tree and star from A Very Jolly Holiday. Stamped the tree in Ripe Avocado and the star on Lemon Tart onto white shimmer cardstock, let it dry, cut out and attached with a Lemon Tart button.
More of that beautiful shine!
Finally, mittens from Warm Winter Wishes stamped in Plum Pudding, onto both the tag and white shimmer cardstock.
To the top, I attached a die cut snowflake, from white shimmer cardstock, using the Peace Be Still Die Collection and stitched a Plum Pudding button through the center.

That's it from me today, hope you enjoy your weekends!

Finally... A Flower Tutorial

Today I bring to you the long awaited flower tutorial, for the flowers featured in this post. These flowers were inspired by the fabulous Betsy Veldman and her gorgeous creations here. Today I'll share with you how I made mine and turned them into cute hair ties. A couple months ago my son was invited to a birthday party for a friend from his preschool class. These are what I made as the gift...These flowers can be created from either fabric or felt. Here's what you need to get started...
When using felt, die cut four flowers and leaves from the colors of your choice. If using fabric, die cut four or more flowers (the more flowers you use the fuller the finished flower will be). You will also need: thread/embroidery floss, needle, a hot glue gun and hair rubber bands.
Fold the a flower in half, then fold in half a second time, stitch embroidery floss through the base of the folds.
Repeat the steps above. Here's a Note: When threading the folded flowers onto the needle, I alternate the direction of the folds (if you look closely at each flower in the photo above you can get a better idea of what I am talking about).
Pull the embroidery floss through the felt and tie ends together tightly.
Flatten out the back side of the flower and hot glue leaves into place.
Die cut a felt circle and attach with hot glue to cover the leaves and create a clean/flat surface. Here's a Note: Use the same felt backing on fabric flowers as well, it makes for a nice solid base.
At this point you can either attach a pin to the backside (like in this post) to create a broach or jewelry accessory. Or follow the steps below...
Cut a small rectangle of felt, hot glue one end to the flower and let it cool. Place a rubber band under the rectangle and attached the other end with more hot glue. For this yellow flower, I simply flattened the center and stitch a button into the center.
For this star hair tie... die cut a small and large star from colored felt of your choice and stitch together with a button.
For the backside I die cut a second large star, trimmed off a couple ends and then attached over the rubber band.
Here's a Note: When using fabric for your flowers, why not mix and match patterns and colors. The blue flower, pictured above, was created by folding and stitching together solid and pattern fabrics together.

To display these pretties... cut a strip of cardstock, punch notches using a hole punch on either side (being careful to line them up) and then slid the rubber bands over and into the notches.

Well, thanks for stopping by and I hope you found this post helpful.

Tiny Treats Team Challenge

Hello, and welcome!

This months Papertrey Ink Design Team group post is all about treats and sweets! Tonight we bring you an assortment of fun projects using the soon to be released Tiny Treats: Halloween. Tiny Treats: Halloween is a followup set to the previously released valentine version called Tiny Treats: Valentine. In this set, is an assortment of spooky yet adorable images that coordinate perfectly with an assortment of fun sentiments. And, they all fit into the new Mat Stack #4!

Here's a simple idea using this adorable set...How about a treat box, filled with all kinds of creepy crawly goodies, and a matching card to put a smile on your little one's face?!
Started out with a small white gable box and covered it in spider webs (draw by hand & directions below). Topped it off with the new Mat Stack #4, stamped in Orange Zest, and a creepy crawly spider. To fold the mat stack over the edge, simply score a line across the center, fold and attach with dimensional adhesive. Isn't this Mat Stack #4 image and matching die fun?! Love it!
More spider web on the back!

Here's how it's done:
Using a marker and a straight edge (I used a Fine Tip Sharpie and a scrap piece of cardstock), draw radiating lines from a single top corner.
Starting from the corner, draw curved lines between the straight lines.
Continue until you reach the ends of the straight lines.
Coordinated the card by drawing another web, but this time I started it in a bottom corner.
Attached another Mat Stack #4, stamped in Orange Zest, and hung a creepy crawly spider with black embroidery floss. Finished it off with a True Black satin bow.

Hope this simple idea helps you out this Halloween season!

For even more fabulous ideas, be sure to see what the rest of the design team has come up with:

Birthday Bash Sentiments

Hello and welcome! Hooray, this is the last day of the Papertrey Ink release countdown! And I am extremely happy to be sharing Birthday Bash Sentiments with you today! Birthday Bash Sentiments is not your usual sentiment set. It includes a super fun and festive mix of birthday sentiments, created by Alli Miles. This set will be available on the the 15th.

I hope to show you just how fun and versatile these sentiments can truly be...
First up, a build your own birthday cake. A few of the sentiments seemed to be just the right size to stack into a cake. Can you see it?! The bottom Simply Chartreuse layer, the middle Orange Zest, then a Spring Rain layer and topped it off with a candle from the same set.
For a bit more color I used a few of the die cut and stamped tickets, from Just The Ticket (also available on the 15th), on either side of the white panel and embellished with True Black buttons. For the next card, I couldn't help but pair these fun birthday sentiments up with a cupcake from an older set, Cupcake Collection. Started by stamping "It's A Celebration" (from Birthday Bash Sentiments) to create a pattern paper in True Black onto a white card stock circle. I love the clean and modern feel this created.
Embellished the top corner with some more fun colored tickets (Simply Chartreuse & Raspberry Fizz) and buttons (Hawaiian Shores & Simply Chartreuse).
Embellished the bottom corner with a cupcake from Cupcake Collection. Layered a Raspberry Fizz cupcake top over a Hawaiian Shores cupcake bottom. Finished it off with one last Raspberry Fizz button and attached it all to a Hawaiian Shores 4 1/4" X 4 1/4" card base.
Next up, I paired the "HAPPY" & "Birthday" with It's Official (also available on the 15). Created my own hand stamped pattern paper strip with a few images from It's Official (stamped in Versamark onto Pure Poppy) and tied some bakers twine around it.
Stamped "HAPPY" in Pure Poppy, cut each individual letter out and layered them over a bingo card (stamped in True Black) from It's Official. Attached the bingo card over the hand stamped strip and finished off the sentiment by stamping "birthday" in true black onto the kraft card base.
And finally, a bit more of a softer take. This time I paired Birthday Bash Sentiments with another older set, Life. Stamped the flower sprigs in Versamark onto Smokey Shadow cardstock and rounded the corner. For the focal panel I die cut the Spiral Note Book Page Die (also available on the 15th) from Soft Stone cardstock, stamped with note book lines in Smokey Shadow and rounded the bottom corner.
Stamped the flower sprigs onto the note book page in melon berry and nestled "Happy Birthday" and "to You" together (stamped in True Black), to create the perfect sentiment. Wrapped it with some Harvest Gold twill ribbon around the top and layered a couple Harvest Gold buttons.
So there you have it! I hope I have inspired you to pull out your sentiment sets and bring them to life!
There is much more countdown fun for you to see! Stop by and check out what Nichole Heady, Alli Miles, Niki Estes, Dawn McVey & Heather Nicholes have in store for you today!
Hope you enjoyed!

All Booked Up

Hello and welcome! This months Papertrey Ink Design Team group post is all about reading and books. I know one certain little man who happens to love both, my 3 year old son Isaiah. He and a couple of his favorite books were my inspiration for today's ensemble. The two books he is holding in the photo above are his current faves, A Fish Out Of Water and Adventures of Frog and Toad. Isaiah loves story time and if it was up to him, story time would last all day! With a few intermissions to play outside, of course! :)

A Fish Out Of Water is a book which was given to him by my mom (his Grammy), after she bought him a couple of fish to enjoy at her house. It's all about a fish that grows and grows uncontrollably. He really gets a kick out of this fun story.

Adventures Of Frog And Toad is a compilation of many short story. Each story is all about a certain adventure that happens in the lives of a couple of close friends. Which makes this book perfect for pulling out and reading a few short stories at a time. So, this is when a bookmark comes in handy to save our spot for next time...
Included in this months release is a gorgeous book/reading stamp set called All Booked Up, created by Nichole Heady. Which is what I used for today's ensemble. From the set I chose to work with the Mat Stack #3 image, one of the circular images and two of the sentiments. Taking inspiration from Adventures Of Frog And Toad, I chose to work with a color combo of Kraft, Dark Chocolate, Simply Chartreuse & White.
Used the coordinating die, Bookmark & Bookmark Topper, to create the bookmark from kraft cardstock. Impressed the bottom half with the soon to be released Book Prints Impression Plate. Stamped (in Simply Chartreuse), punched out and attached the circular image over a Dark Chocolate cardstock strip stamped with a "Save Your Spot" sentiment (in Fresh Snow). Finished it off with a Simply Chartreuse ribbon tab.
Isaiah wanted to join in and help show off the coordinating card. :)
Used the Book Prints Impression Plate on the front of a kraft card base, on top of that attached a die cut Mat Stack #3 (stamped in Dark Chocolate). I actually flipped the mat upside down, stamped the sentiment, punched a hole at the top and topped it with a Simply Chartreuse ribbon tab. Stamped (in Simply Chartreuse), punched out and attached the circular image over a Dark Chocolate button and cardstock strip.

One thing that I have learned from these many story times is, that I need to cherish each one while I've still got them! As you know, children grow up way too fast! I truly hope and pray that, as my sons quickly grows, his love for books and stories will grow and increase with him.

The Design Team has much more All Booked Up to share with you today. So, be sure to stop by...
I hope you have enjoyed everything I shared with you today and thanks for taking the time to visit!
