Hi! After creating yesterdays card, with the Papertrey Ink Christmas Tree Die, I then created this fun card. By using the left over pattern paper, with a tree negative cut out from the center, as the focal point. Attached the pattern paper to a kraft card base with dimensional adhesive. Die cut a tag from white cardstock, using the Fillable Frames #9 die, and then stamped it with a sentiment from Vintage Ornaments in Raspberry Fizz. Tied it with baker's twine and attached with dimensional adhesive to the top corner.

Then finished the card off with an assortment of buttons and some button twine attached within the tree cut out.

Merry Christmas Glitter Tree

Hello, all! I'd like to take a couple of days to share Christmas card ideas using the Papertrey Ink's Christmas Tree Die. For today's card, I've decorated the die cut tree with a glitter garland... Started by die cutting a Christmas tree from Distressed Dots pattern paper. Then, using a glue pen, applied glue across the front of the tree. Sprinkled with glitter and let dry. Once dry, I embellished the tree with buttons and twine.

Attached strips of Pure Poppy, Raspberry Fizz & Plum Pudding ribbon to a white card base. Stamped a sentiment, from Friendship Jar Holiday Fillers, in Plum pudding and then attached the tree over the ribbon with dimensional adhesive. Here's another idea: Attach strips of pattern paper instead of ribbon, to your card base.

Embellish Color Challenge Vintage

Time for another Embellish Color Challenge! Check it out... The challenge: To create a vintage themed project using the colors pictured above. The sponsor: Pixie Petals. Check out their gorgeous line of embellishments here.

I must admit, vintage it not my usual style. After putting this challenge off for as long as I could and finally creating a card this morning, I surprisingly found this challenge fairly easy. And here is what i came up with, using a Pixie Petals flower and ribbon...

Started today's card by stamping the Hero Arts Lace Background in Chamomile ink (lightest color in the PTI Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo) onto a Rustic Cream card base. Over that, layered the Hero Arts Wreath Of Leaves in SU Wild Wasabi and a sentiment, from Friendship Jar Holiday Fillers, in Dark Chocolate. Inked the card base edges with the PTI Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo.

Embellished the wreath with antique brads, rust colored ribbon and a yellow flower.

Falling For You

Hello! Last week my son and I, along with his preschool class, took a trip to an apple farm to pick apples. What a fun time we had... I just love fall and I find all the new colors and activities of this season so inspiring. Which leads me to the card inspired by fall and our apple picking trip...

Attached a strip of Distressed Dots pattern paper to the kraft card base.

Die cut a Spiral Notebook Page from rustic cream cardstock and stamped a tree trunk and leaves from the newly released Merry Little Christmas set. Then stamped the apples and a sentiment from the Falling Leaves set. Wrapped the top with chocolate baker's twine, attached it to the card base with dimensional adhesive and embellished with buttons. Here's A Tip: I sometimes double up on the adhesive (for twice the height or dimension) to allow for enough room to tuck buttons under the focal image.

Papertrey Ink - October 2010 Release Projects

I hope you all enjoyed this months amazing Papertrey Ink release! I have more release cards to share with you today. So, let me get started... First up Friendship Jar Holiday Fillers. One of my favorite images from this set is the hanging stars and snowflakes.

Went for a different use of this image and stamped a row of falling stars and snowflakes. Embellished it with ribbon and rhinestones and finished it off with a sentiment from Fillable Frames #9. This is a super simple card that could easily be mass produced for Christmas cards.

Next up, Holiday Sparkle by Alli Miles! Used both the snowflake and border image stamped in Spring Rain and stamped the sentiment in Pure Poppy.

Combined the set with some fabulous Sugar Plum pattern paper. Die cut one of the Limitless Layers dies from the pattern paper and attached the rhinestones snowflake into the center.

This is Heather Nichols' Holly Jolly set combined with one of Dawn McVey's 2010 Holiday Tags images. Stamped the border image onto a few Blueberry Sky circles in Versamark ink.

Created a focal image/circle using the tag, stamped in Pure Poppy, and then layered a strip of cardstock stamped with a sentiment from Holly Jolly. Finished it off with a couple button berries, hand cut holly leaves and baker's twine. Love how this one turned out!

This card is a combo of a few of the new sets and pattern paper. It all started with the lined circle image from Mini Scrapbook Series: Journaling Circles stamped in New Leaf. Over that layered holly from Holly Jolly (touched up with glitter glue) and "Joy" from Big & Bold Holiday Wishes.

Die cut a Mat Stack #3 from Christmas Prints pattern paper, die cut a circle from the top and then attached it over the "Joy" circle. Finished it off with the rest of the sentiment stamped onto a strip of cardstock, buttons and white silk ribbon colored using a red Copic marker.

Next up, the adorable Merry Little Christmas set by Becky Oehlers. Stamped the tree in Dark Chocolate and covered each branch with glittery snow. Attached a fun border of Victorian Lace die cut from both Plum Pudding and Scarlet Jewel cardstock. Love this border look, definitely going to do this again!

Then, hung button ornaments from the branch.

Last, but not least is Dawn McVey's On Ice set combined with Christmas Prints pattern paper. Die cut and stamped two ice skates in True Black.

Colored the blades with a silver colored pencil for a bit of shimmer. Love how this looks in real life. Be sure to click on the photo above for a better look. Tied and hung the skates from black embroidery floss and Pinefeather satin ribbon.

Color Cue {9} Challenge

Hello, everyone! Yesterday was the start of the Color Cue {9} Challenge. Take a look... Colors I used were: Sweet Blush, White, Smoky Shadow & True Black. Here is my take...

Started with a Sweet Blush card base. Trimmed Sweet Blush grosgrain and satin ribbons and attached to the card base.

Die cut a Fillable Frames #4 from white cardstock and stamped with a medallion, from Poinsettia Patterns, in Smoky Shadow. Then layered a sentiment, from Ever After, in True Black. Attached the frame over the ribbon strips, using dimensional adhesive and then embellished with different sized rhinestones.

Quick & Easy Tags

Hello, and welcome to the second Papertrey Ink group post day and the final day of the Papertrey Ink countdown. Hooray! This second group post is geared around the soon to be released 2010 Holiday Tags stamp set along with all of the wonderful tag products Papertrey Ink is releasing. Today I am combining 2010 Holiday Tags stamp set with the brand new Tag Sale #2 die.

While growing up, one of my favorite things to do for the holidays was to wrap gifts. I loved it so much that both my mom and sister would give me their own gifts for me to wrap up. Even the gifts I was to receive from them, after they boxed it up and I couldn't peek inside of course! Something about wrapping the paper nice and tight and making the corners folds perfect, made me happy. I enjoyed finding just the right ribbon and tag to match the paper perfectly. This is something I still enjoy to this day! Nowadays, I keep things simply and wrap all gifts with kraft colored wrapping paper and add a punch of color by using colorful ribbons and pretty tags. Here are a few ideas... Started by wrapping the gift with Kraft colored wrapping paper. Next, dress it up with a wrap of pretty ribbon of your choice. I usually like to go with colors that match my tree.

For this first tag I started by die cutting Tag Sale #2 from Christmas Prints pattern paper. Die cut a circle from white cardstock and stamped with the Very Merry Circle image from 2010 Holiday Tags in Pure Poppy. Cut a strip of white cardstock and stamped "Greeting", from Big & Bold Holiday Wishes, in Pure Poppy ink and attached to the base of the tag.

Attached the "Very Merry" circle to the top of the tag over a few Pure Poppy buttons strung with baker's twine. Topped the tag off with Pure Poppy ribbon in a unique way.

Here's how: Start with about 6" of Pure Poppy ribbon.

Fold ribbon and pull it through the tag hole like so. Then string twine through the ribbon loop.

To finish, flip the tag over and tie the twine tightly to hold the ribbon in place. Then use the extra twine lenght to tie the tag to the gift/ribbon bow.

Next up, I used the adorable reindeer image. Stamped it in Dark Chocolate onto a die cut white circle and then attached it to a die cut Tag Sale #2 cut from Sugar Plum pattern paper.

Stamped "Merry Christmas" onto a white cardstock strip and attached. Finished it off with rhinestones and a ribbon top, attached the ribbon in the same fashion as above.

I used the mistletoe image for the last two tags. This one is a super simple tag that could easily be mass produced.

Stamped the mistletoe in Simply Chartreuse. Dressed it up with Liquid Pearl for the berries and some Fine Linen Saddle Stitched ribbon.

For this final tag I stamped the mistletoe in Ripe Avocado onto Spring Moss cardstock. Finished it off with some more Liquid Pearls, Fine Linen Swiss Dot satin ribbon and a sentiment strip.

Here is one final idea to dress up those gifts. Simple tie a paper vintage ornament (ornament instructions found here) around the bow.

Year of Flower: Marigold

Hello, and welcome to day 3 of the Papertrey Ink countdown! Today I am super excited to share Year of Flowers: Marigolds with you. The next in the Year of Flowers series, featuring the beautiful marigold... When I first saw these images, this was the first idea to pop into my head. These gorgeously detailed petals were asking for a pop of dimension. I kept the card super simple to really let the flower be the star of the show.

Here's how: I stamped the marigold onto white cardstock. Masked off the flower and stamped the leaves. Using a kraft knife I carefully cut around a few select petals and gently lifted each up. Stamped the sentiment, attach the flower to a Melon Berry card base (making sure not to apply adhesive to the backside of the cut petals) and wrapped with Harvest Gold satin ribbon.

I had to pull out the Copic markers for this set! To give this single layer card a bit more interest, I first started by stamping a Rustic Cream card base with Background Basics: Text Style. For a lighter impression, I inked up the background stamp with Dark Chocolate ink, stamped it off onto scrap cardstock and then onto the entire front of the card base.

Stamped one of the frames from Framed and a sentiment from Fillable Frames #9, in Dark Chocolate, into the center and masked off the outer edge with large Post It Notes. Then stamped both the large and small marigold images into the corners of the frame, also in Dark Chocolate. Colored the flowers with the Orange Zest Copic trio and finished it off with a few Orange Zest buttons and Chocolate baker's twine. I love how these colored images seem to just pop off of this simple single layer card!

Dawn McVey's latest Doily Card Templates make the perfect compliment to these gorgeous marigolds. I love how the scallops mimic the petals of the flowers. Used the large marigold flower and stamped it multiple times to create my own hand stamped pattern paper. Love the way this turned out!

Trimmed 1 1/8" from the card front to accommodate the Melon Berry cardstock strip and the doily edge. For this card I ended up using only the scallops from the template. Here's How: To attach the doily edge, I printed the Doily Card Template out onto white cardstock. Trimmed only the card front with the scalloped edge. It ended up being slightly wider than the width of my card, so I simply attached it and trimmed off the excess. Finished the card off with a sentiment from On Ice and a few perfectly place rhinestones.

And finally, this layout was based off of this card. I had a few questions as to how the flowers were stamped in a way that both the flower on the Mat Stack and the card base lined up and matched perfectly. I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to show you how...

For this technique I used a Stamp-a-ma-jig stamp positioning tool. To start, I stamped the marigold, in the desired position, onto a white Mat Stack #1 die cut.

In case your wondering, here is how the Stamp-n-ma-jig works. I nestled the clear sheet (which comes with the positioning tool) into the corner of the Stamp-n-ma-jig. Then nestled the acrylic block, with the marigold stamp attached, and stamped onto the clear sheet.

Placed the Mat Stack into the desired position on the card front (with out adhesive) and then aligned the Stamp-a-ma-jig directly over the flower on the Mat Stack. If you click on this photo you can see how both of the flower images are lined up. This then give you the exact position you need to stamp the flower onto the card base.

Carefully removed both the Mat Stack and the clear sheet (being sure not to move the card base). Then nestled the stamp into the Stamp-a-ma-jig and stamp down onto the Kraft card base.

I then ended up with a perfectly place marigold.

Which then lined up perfectly with the image on the Mat Stack die, in the exact position I wanted it in.

Stamped a couple more marigold and leaf image across the front of the Kraft card base. Finished it off with a couple strips of Harvest Gold twill ribbon, True Black buttons and button twine.

I love the versatility of these gorgeous images! You too can get your hand on this set October 15th!
