Photo Inspiration Challenge

Hello all! My new friend Melissa Phillips has started a new Inspirational Challenge over at her blog. The latest challenge is based off of this fabulous photo...Courtesy of A Creative Mint, isn't this just so inspiring! A Creative Mint is an amazing place full of gorgeousness ready to inspire anyone! So stop by and be prepared to be in awe! Here is my take...
The rows of vintage buttons, rustic cream and kraft colors and twines were what drew my attention the most. I couldn't help but incorporate these details onto my card.
The top was stamped with Background Basics: Diamonds, in pure poppy. Then wrapped with pure poppy grosgrain ribbon and tied with a tiny cream twine bow. Lined my vintage buttons up in rows onto vintage cream cardstock, stamped a sentiment (from Damask Design), rounded the bottom corners and mounted it all onto a kraft card base.

So, stop by Melissa blog for all the details and to see what Dawn McVey, Betsy Veldman, Mish Wooderson & Heather Nichols were inspired to create. Hope you get a chance to play along too. Have a wonderful day!

Another Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #20 Card

Did I say what a fabulous color combo this is! Thanks Dawn for another great one! No really, I really like it. So much so, that I tried it again... Trying something new here, covering the aqua panel with aqua buttons for something different and for a lot of fun texture. What do you think?

Above the buttons is a vine image, from Beyond Basic Borders, stamped in Aqua Mist. Over that is the sentiment, from Damask Design, in dark chocolate. Finished off with more of that lush rust colored satin ribbon.

So, I think that will be it from me today. I think I've really have missed this blogging business, two posts in one day! Hope you have a wonderful rest of the day and thanks for stopping by.

WCMD Papertrey Ink Challenge #2

Good morning to you all!

Last night I had a little time to create a couple cards for the Papertrey Ink World Card Making Day Challenges, over at Nichole Heady's blog. The challenges were to take inspiration from around the world. The second challenge was to be inspired by Mexico. Here is what I came up with...
I was inspired by the lady dancers flowing skirts, trimmed in tons of ribbon and lace, found here.
Thanks for stopping by, hope you have a wonderful day!

PTI September Blog Hop

This is my second post today, so please scroll down to see the first.
Its time again for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop. This months challenge is to Go Green: to reuse, repurpose and recycle our packaging from our Papertrey Packages. Here is what I came up with...
I chose to reuse three different packaging materials to create my flower... the corrugated cardboard, the kraft colored packaging paper and the cream colored packaging paper. I cut all three using my Blossom Nestabilities, stamped the cream paper with red polka dots, and tied them all together with a button and a twine knot.
Can't wait to see what everyone else created! Thanks for hopping by, I hope you enjoyed!

Celebrate CAS32

Happy Thursday to you all!

Today I wanted to share a card I created for the latest CAS Challenge: To create a wedding card... The damask image was stamped in Ocean Tides ink onto Aqua cardstock then embellished with liquid pearls.
To wrap the ribbon around the card, I first had to cut a slit in the fold of the card. Threaded the ribbon through and held it in place with a glue dot, then stitched the button on (through the ribbon and card base) for extra strength.

So today was supposed to be the day we leave for our camping trip, but unfortunately something has come up with my husbands work that has caused us to cancel our trip. Bummer!!! I was really looking forward to it. I am really trying not to be too bummed about it, the Lord must have other plans for us this weekend.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you have a great rest of the week and a fun weekend!

In Bloom

Hi there! Hope you are all enjoying you're weekends!

So as promised yesterday, today I share with you my card using the new In Bloom stamp set from Papertrey Ink. So here you go...
This flower image would be fabulous all colored in, but I am not a colorer at all! lol! So my way of adding color is to stamp the images in different colors. The large bloom was stamped in Raspberry Fizz and the smaller ones were stamped in red. I stamped the images multiple times and cut out different sections of each flower, then adhere them together with dimensional adhesive to give it a layered look. Just like Nichole Heady did for this card.

I gave the card a little extra detail with black rhinestones, black scallops and a sentiment stamped in black as well. Again with the "skinny" card, it just makes such elegant cards. So this may seem like a lot of work for a card, since this is the first time playing around with this set. But I have had this idea in my head ever since ordering it and couldn't wait to create it. It turned out just like I had envisioned, which rarely happens. Usually my cards come out completely different from the original idea. How about you, do your cards usually come out as planned or off on some other tangent?

So, I'm loving this set and have already made a few more cards with it. I look forward to sharing them with you soon. So hope you'll stop in again soon. Talk at you later!

Bold & Bright

Today's card was inspired by this photo in Better Homes And Gardens Magazine, August 09 issue...This photo really stood out to me because of its bold, bright and fun colors. This is not a usual color combo for me, I'm not really a fan of purple and don't usually go so bold; but I just love how these colors came together in this bouquet. Here is my interpretation... The colors used were: Raspberry Fizz, Ripe Avocado & SU Perfect Plum. I have a very small stash of purple cardstock (one 12X12 sheet) and this card almost used it all up! lol!. I may not be a fan of purple but the other two are a couple of my favorites.

The sentiment is a little hard to see clearly, here is a better shot...Now that I'm thinking about it, I should have stamped the sentiment on a purple strip of cardstock in white ink. This probably would have helped it stand out better. Too late now, oh well. Live and learn. :)

Ok... I guess the purple is kind of growing on me. :) Maybe it just needs to be combined with the right colors.

So how about you, what are your favorite colors or least favorite colors? Do you like to go for Bold & Bright or Soft & Subtle? I'd love to hear your take!

Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!!! Thanks for visiting!

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #13

So today I want to share the card I created for Dawn McVey's Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #13. Dawn is a very talented lady and has an eye for amazing color combos!!! So this weeks challenge is another stunner, such a bright and cheery combo! At first her challenges sometimes throw me for a loop, but once I start playing around and start putting something together, I end up having so much fun! So here is what I came up with...
The polka dots are another one of my new sets from Papertrey Ink, Polka Dot Basics II. They were inked in red and stamped onto berry cardstock. Here is a close up of the ribbon and button detail...
This is such a fun and simple layout. I couldn't just stop at one card, so I went ahead and made two more! Card #2...

Card #3...

This was a good way to increase the number of cards in my stash. Anyways... I hope you enjoyed my cards and thanks to Dawn for another fabulous Color Challenge!

Have a wonderful rest of the day!
