SSD#56 Sketch Challenge

Hello, all! I'd like to invite you all to join me and the Skipping Stones Design Team in this weeks SSD#56 Sketch Challenge. Since I am this months Guest Sketch Designer, here is the latest sketch I designed for the occasion... Here is my take...
For today's challenge we are featuring the recently release Birrrrthday. Stamped the gorgeous snowflakes onto a White Shimmer cardstock circle, in Spring Rain. Attached the circle along with two strips of Shimmer Pink cardstock to a white card base.
Finished it off with a sentiment stamped in True Black and a Sweet Blush button tied with silk ribbon.

Be sure to visit the Skipping Stone Design Blog for all the challenge details, prize info and to see what the Design Team has come up with, using the same sketch and stamp set. Hope to see your challenge cards soon!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Skipping Stones Design Blog Hop

***This is my second post for today. If you'd like, look here for my previous post.***

Hello, and welcome to the Skipping Stones Design Blog Hop. This is a hop to celebrate the release of two new sets, Sentiment Frames #1 and Brrthday. Today the Design Team and Guests of Skipping Stones Design will be featuring cards using Sentiment Frames #1.

Combined with the blog hop today, it's also Skipping Stones Sketch Tuesday and here is the sketch I design for the occasion...

Here is what I came up with...
Onto a kraft cardstock block I stamped one of the frames from Sentiment Frames #1 in Vintage Cream ink. Inside the frame, I stamped the sentiment (also from the same set) in Dark Chocolate. Rounded the bottom corners, tied with Dark Chocolate ribbon and attached to a Dark Chocolate card base.
Embellished the frame with a few hand rolled Scarlet Jewel flowers (tutorial on how to make these found here, at the bottom of the post) for a pop of color.

Now, stop by and see what the SSD team has come up with for you today...

We'd love for you to play along with us and design a card using the sketch! If you do join in, please share with us and link your card at the Skipping Stones Blog here. A free stamp set is up for grabs to one lucky winner as well! I hope to see your creations soon!

Thanks for stopping by, have a great one!

Sketch Desinger For Skipping Stones Desing

Hello! This month, I'm guest sketch designer for Skipping Stones Design. Check them out here. Today I'm featuring a card using the latest sketch - SSD#54... For today's card, I started with a kraft card base and attached a piece of yellow Happy Spots pattern paper. Wrapped the base twice with chocolate baker's twine and tied into bows.
I combined today's sketch with the Heartsong stamp set, a pre-release set that will be available in January 2011. Stamped a die cut Mat Stack #4 with the bird on a branch image. Stamped the image a second time onto Lavender Moon cardstock, cut out the bird and attach with dimensional adhesive. Attached the stamped Mat Stack to the card base with dimensional adhesive. Stamped the card base with a few music notes and finished the card off with a few more hand cut music notes.
Here's a look a the SSD#54 sketch I designed. As you can see, I basically flipped the sketch. For some reason, I usually have a hard time sticking to the exact layout of a sketch. Always looking for a way to add my own spin (even if it is my own sketch, it's a good way to keep design ideas fresh and new).

Be sure to stop by Skipping Stones Design blog for more details and for a look at what the rest of the Skipping Stone Design Team has come up with.

Thanks for stopping by, have a great one!

Have a Beautiful Birthday:

Blogs For Boobies Bounce - Final Day!

Today is the final day of the "Blogs 4 Boobies" Blog Bounce, cancer fundraiser.
I have joined up with Skipping Stones Design to help raise money to fight the war against Breast Cancer. SSD is celebrating the release of 2 all new stamp sets. They are also donating $2 for every stamp set sold this week to the cause! This is a one-of-a-kind-blog (hop)bounce! Every card/project that is show here in the "Blogs 4 Boobies" blog bounce is up for auction. All of the money raised through the silent auction, on our blogs, will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Currently the highest bid for my card is at $10, thank you Terri. If you like my card and want to support this amazing cause, here's how:

There are 2 ways that you can help, and join in on the fun!
1. Shopping
For every stamp set that you purchase during Sept 15 - 23, SSD will donate $2 to the Komen Foundation. Stamping and shopping that you can feel good about! Click here to check out SSD stamps.

2. Bidding
Another way you can help us raise money for the Komen Foundation is to bid on a project or card along the blog bounce. A $5 or more starting bid is recommended. Your bid includes the project and shipping to your address as well.

Place a Bid for the Card
Step #1
Place your bid in the comment section of this blog post.

Step #2
Once you are in the "Blog 4 Boobies" comment section fill in the dollar and cents amount of what you are willing to pay for the card/project. We recommend a starting bid of $5 or more. Remember your bid includes shipping as well as the card/project. 100% of the money your bid will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Step #3
Next to your $ bid please type in your email address. During a silent auction, bidder sign their name next to their bid. Typing your email address is the electronic equivalent of signing your bid. Also, it will help the blogger contact you if you are the highest bidder.

Step #4
Watch and wait.
Once you have entered your bid/comment sit back and wait. If someone out bids you then you may bid again. Bidding will continue until 8:00 p.m. MT.

After Bidding
Watch and Wait.
The "Winner of the Auction" will be the highest bid (that includes an email address) in the comment section of the most recent "Blogs 4 Boobies" post at the end of the silent auction. Please note that all cards/projects will be re-posted on the 23rd of September. The silent auction will end at 8:00 p.m. MT on September 23rd.

Things To Keep In Mind
Near the end of the bidding you may not see bids as they come in. Most blogs have a comment feature where the bloggers must approve comments before they are published. So bid high. You might have the highest bid that is published, but someone might have outbid you in an unpublished comment/bid.
The blogger/designer will declare who has won the silent auction. Skipping Stones Design will send you an invoice for your donation/bid amount. Please pay that invoice as soon as possible, so the designer can get your card/project in the mail to you.

Be sure to visit Skipping Stones Design for the list of amazingly talented, and generous designers who are joining with us in our efforts to stamp out Cancer.

Embellish Color Challenge With Butterflies

This Friday is the start of another Embellish Color Challenge! Check it out... This weeks challenge is to use the fabulous colors pictured above and to incorporate butterflies into your designs. Our wonderful sponsor is Skipping Stones Design, you really should stop by and check out their great selection of stamps! My challenge card uses the gorgeous Healing Wings set...
Isn't this butterfly image just stunning?! It reminds me of stained glass. I used this image in two different ways. First, stamped it in True Black ink onto kraft cardstock to create a strip of hand stamped pattern paper. Second, to create a focal image...
In keeping with the stained glass idea, I heat embossed the butterfly in black onto vellum cardstock and then colored it using Copic markers. The sheer and shimmery effect is gorgeous in person, but is really hard to capture in a photo. Layered the butterfly over a Mat Stack #1 die cut and three Simply Chartreuse buttons.

I do hope you too will give these fabulous colors a try and join us in this latest Embellish Color Challenge! You can find the challenge and prize details here. Hope to see your creations soon!

Have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend!
