Embellish Color Challenge With Stripes

Hello and happy Friday to you all! Hard to believe, but it's time for another Embellish Color Challenge. YEAH!!! Here is the challenge... Are you up for it?! This time the challenge is sponsored by Clear & Simple Stamps (CSS). They've got quite the assortment of stamps, your sure to find what you are looking for. I chose to work with Believe in Word II, it's really such a beautiful set. For the focal point I stamped the bird into a punched cream circle, and tucked it under a button that I used to tie the ends of the ribbon together. Embellished with more buttons and hand cut flowers.
I do hope you will give this fun challenge a try, I would love to see what you come up with. In case you didn't know already, there is a huge Clear & Simple prize package up for grabs too!

By the way, I am amazed by how many cards were submitted in the last Embellish Magazine Challenge. I am still working my way through all of them, but you guys have blown me away with your creativity! Makes me even more excited to see what you create this time around!

Thanks for popping in today! Hope you have a great weekend!

'Tis The Season

Happy Saturday to you, my friends! Hope you are enjoying your weekend. I find it hard to believe that Christmas is less than a week away! So, today I bring to you a Christmas card... Just full of glittery goodness! The card base was stamped with stripes from Background Basics: Retro. First they were stamped in versamark, heat embossed with Heat and Stick powder, glittered and then heat set again.
The gift boxes (from Winter Swirls) were stamped in moss, berry and aqua; then touched up with glitter using a glue pen. You should have seen the mess I made when I was done!
I am off to enjoy my weekend. Thanks for taking a peek today!

Enjoy The Wild Ride

Hello all and happy Friday! Boy have things been really quiet around here (the good old blog). The holidays do make thing busy but getting sick doesn't help. Forgive me for not posting or sharing much these days, I've been sick with a cold since Sunday and I am still not completely well. This cold just keeps lingering on. I took my first trip into town today, since getting sick, and I am tuckered out.

Anyways enough about that, I'll move on to the card... This bicycle image is on of my favorites from the Everyday Button Bits Set and it pairs so well with this sentiment. I thought I would go ahead and create one wild ride for this bike down a hill. This would be a fun card to give some one a smile, when things really do get wild. The hill was created by cutting a slop from ripe avocado and spring moss cardstocks, stamping the spring moss cardstock with a background from Background Basics: Retro, then distressing the edges.
The sentiment was stamped above a button tied to some spring rain twill ribbon. Then everything was attached to a kraft cardstock base. I love kraft cardstock, it goes with just about anything! Don't you think?

Well, I am going to put my son down for a nap now and maybe take one my self, hehe. Thanks for stopping by today and hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Embellish Color Challenge With Brads

Hello! The latest Brad Challenge over at Embellish really through me for a loop, I am not used to working with such bright colors. Definitely a step out of my comfort zone.So combining these colors with sweet Emma's Sketch Challenge #4, here is what I came up with...
The white strip was stamped using stripes from Background Basics: Retro and the star background is from BG Basics: Stars. I really like these stars and I haven't used them in a long time, I find them hard to work with sometimes. I think I may challenge my self to use the stamp set more often.

Thanks for dropping in, hope you enjoyed your visit today!

Enjoy the ride

Hello all! I am on my way out the door but I wanted to pop in a share a fun sort of masculine card with you before I go... The background was stamped with stripes from Background Basics: Retro in Ocean Tides and Spring Moss. Rounded the corners and wrapped it with ribbon.
Stamped the bike in brown and attached the buttons with some fun stitching. Attach a brown scalloped edge, rounded the corners, and attach to the striped background making sure to hang the scallops over the edge for a tad bit of interest. All these rounded corners make me happy, it's such a simple touch but really makes for and fun card.

Hope you have a blessed day!

Moxie Fab Plum Crazy

The latest challenge over at the Moxie Fab World Blog is to create a project that captures the essence of the color plum in its design. So here is what I came up with... The focus of the card is this handmade purple/plum flower. I decided to enhance the color by combining it with a triadic color scheme (three colors that are evenly spaced on the color wheel).
To create this flower I used three different sized circles punches, punched four circle from each punch and crumpled to distress. Adhered same sized circles together to form the layers then adhere the layers together to form the flower. Embellish with a stitched button in the center and attach hand cut and distressed leaves.

Thanks for visiting and hope you have a wonderful day!

Baby Love

Hello my friends and happy Monday to you! Today I wanted to share a sweet baby card I created (I couldn't decide which photos I liked best so I posted 3 for you today)...The cream circle was stamped with a background stamp, from Background Basics: Retro, in aqua. The sentiment was stamped using two different sentiments from Mixed Messages, it just so happened that they were in the same font.

The stars were punched from melon berry (stamped with stripes from BB: Retro in cream) and aqua cardstock. Then layered with a circle and buttons.

The ribbon was done using the same technique used on this card. Excepted before adhering the ribbon I ran a straight stitch down one side with thread, bunched it together tightly then adhered and stapled. Creating this much ruffle did take a lot of ribbon, but I really like the way it turned out.

Well that's it from me today, hope you have a wonderful start to your week and a blessed day. Thanks for stopping in today!

WCMD Papertrey Ink Challenge #2

Good morning to you all!

Last night I had a little time to create a couple cards for the Papertrey Ink World Card Making Day Challenges, over at Nichole Heady's blog. The challenges were to take inspiration from around the world. The second challenge was to be inspired by Mexico. Here is what I came up with...
I was inspired by the lady dancers flowing skirts, trimmed in tons of ribbon and lace, found here.
Thanks for stopping by, hope you have a wonderful day!

Another Moxie Fab Challenge

Hello all!

This time the challenge was to create something that incorporates some kind of household item as the focal point. My first card uses the bike image from PTI Everyday Button Bits... To create the wheels, I punch circle from grey cardstock and then stitched the blue buttons on top of the circles. "Enjoy" was stamped in grey ink onto an orange punched circle and adhered behind the main image and ribbon. The rest of the sentiment "the ride" was stamped in cream ink at the bottom of the card.

The second card uses a coffee cup from PTI Warm Happiness. This is a new color combo to me. I had scraps of Aqua, burgundy, brown, kraft and cream laying out on my work space and thought they looked very pretty and warm together, perfect to pair with Warm Happiness.
Using my new border punch on this one, Upper Crest by Fiskers. I have been looking and looking for this one, dying to get my hand on it. The day I finally found it I almost didn't see it. It was in the wrong spot and behind other punches, I had been very desperate by this time and decided to look through each and every border punch. Good thing I did, I would have never seen it if I had not.
Anyways, onto the card... Stamped the circle and kraft strip with the tiny polka dots from PTI Polka Dot Basics II (I just love those little guys! He,he!) in burgundy and cream inks. The buttons were strung onto the twine and then I wrapped the twine around the card and the circle, held it in place with tape on the back side of the circle.

Boy am I cutting it close on this one, the deadline is at the end of the hour!

Oh, thank you all for your wonderful comments on my Embellish Challenge card. I really had a lot of fun making that one and it really means so much that you all are enjoying it too! I hope you all have a chance to participate. Thanks for visiting today, hope you enjoyed!

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #14

Hello my friends! So it's time again for Dawn McVey's Raspberry Suite Challenge. I tell ya, this was a challenge for me. First it took me forever to come up with and idea and once I did, it kept changing. Second I found it hard to combine these colors without a dark neutral, like a brown or black. I kept wanting to throw a green in there too and do flowers, but I refrained. So here is my take...I went with a skinny card for this one, they are just so much fun! I inked the balloon baskets and sentiment in burgundy. I don't have Scarlet Jewel (yet!) so I improvised and used a burgundy ink and button I had in my stash. I used SU Perfect Plum for the stamped background and had a purple button in my stash, for the balloon. I have tons of Raspberry Fizz so I pulled out my "bag o buttons" and GG ribbon.Aren't these Hot Air Balloons too cute?! Its so perfect for Papertrey Ink to create a set made for buttons, it's a great way to incorporate any color combo!

So hope you all have a great Thursday. The weekend is almost here! Yeah! Hope you enjoyed the card and thanks for stoppin' in, come back soon!

Just A Little Something

Happy Wednesday! Today's post is going to be a quick one. My son and I have a picnic lunch to go to with friends and I'm running late! So, the card I'm sharing with you today is "Just A Little Something" I whipped up in no time...I love the bold color with the pop of white. This card is for you Jessica, I know how much you love pink! The background image was stamped and embossed in white for a little extra texture and pop. Don't you just love that button! It totally looks like it's on fire!

So I hope you liked today's super simple card. Have a wonderful day and hope your week is going great! Talk at you later.

True Friend

Hello my friends!

So, I am excited to share today's card with you all! As you know already I am having a blast playing around with my In Bloom stamp set. I love it, it's such a versatile set and I can't quite put it down! On yesterdays card I layered the bloom image and showcased it as the main focal point. Today card uses it as a background for the sentiment. So onto the card...
Since the sentiment is so long I chose to layer the sentiment over the image. The sentiment comes as one stamp, but to get the two colors I carefully inked up one side in brown and then the other in raspberry. Then placed a few buttons in a way to help draw the attention to the sentiment.

Are you loving this color combo as much as me? I think it may be one of my faves! Oh, and can you believe it, I resisted the corner punch on this one!!! LOL!

Hope you are enjoying your last bit of the weekend! We are headed to a friends house for dinner and dessert, I'm bringing the strawberry shortcake! Mmmmmmmm! :)

Bold & Bright

Today's card was inspired by this photo in Better Homes And Gardens Magazine, August 09 issue...This photo really stood out to me because of its bold, bright and fun colors. This is not a usual color combo for me, I'm not really a fan of purple and don't usually go so bold; but I just love how these colors came together in this bouquet. Here is my interpretation... The colors used were: Raspberry Fizz, Ripe Avocado & SU Perfect Plum. I have a very small stash of purple cardstock (one 12X12 sheet) and this card almost used it all up! lol!. I may not be a fan of purple but the other two are a couple of my favorites.

The sentiment is a little hard to see clearly, here is a better shot...Now that I'm thinking about it, I should have stamped the sentiment on a purple strip of cardstock in white ink. This probably would have helped it stand out better. Too late now, oh well. Live and learn. :)

Ok... I guess the purple is kind of growing on me. :) Maybe it just needs to be combined with the right colors.

So how about you, what are your favorite colors or least favorite colors? Do you like to go for Bold & Bright or Soft & Subtle? I'd love to hear your take!

Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!!! Thanks for visiting!
