A Birthday Blog Hop

Hello all!!! So excited that you could join me.  Today is a very special occasion, because a few friends and I are celebrating the amazing Julie Ebersole's 50th birthday!  Julie is such a dear and so young at heart.  I've had the honor of meeting her in person twice, and honestly... I still can't come to grips with her true age, to me she is such a fun loving youngster!

Here's a special card that I made just for her...
I pulled out an old Hero Arts tried and true favorite stamp set of mine... Feathers.
I began this card by stamping a sentiment from the Circles stamp set in black ink and then stamped the feather in Versamark ink (embossed in clear) directly over it.
Added a few stokes of Mister Huey's (using a paint brush dipped into the mister bottles) over the embossing.  Studio Calico Mister Huey's used... Audrey, Doris, Lucille and Pinstripe. Then finished the card of with a strip of Hero Arts wet cement layering paper (stapled into place using a Tiny Attacher) and then finished the card off with a few sequins.

Once again... A huge Happy Birthday to my dear friend Julie and thank you for stopping by.  Now be sure to continue the birthday blog hop and stop by Jessica Witty blog for even more birthday celebrations!

2013 Hero Arts Catalog Blog Hop

***Please note, this is my second post of the day. If you care to see the first one, just click here.***
Hello and welcome to the 2013 Hero Arts Catalog Blog Hop!  Please make yourself at home here, take a seat and have a peek at what I have to share with you today. I'm excited to be bring you a peek at some new goodies!

Take a look...
How about a little boutique influence? Inspired by my recient visit to Urbanic in Venice, CA.  What a dream that store was! I adored the look of all the simple one layer gold letterpressed cards and had to recreate one of my own (sans the letterpressing of course).  I'd say mine came out just as cute!
To create, I simply stamped this adorable owl (F5725), in gold ink, onto a rustic white card base.  Once the ink dried I stamped the sentiment (C5466) in black ink.  Just a note, both stamps are wood mounted and stamp wonderfully.  Then finished the card off with a strip of black cardstock.

Up for a giveaway?!  Hero Arts will be giving away several prize packs, with winners randomly chosen from ALL of the blog hop comments received by midnight PST on Monday, December 17. So be sure to leave me some love before you hop away!

Now it's time to move on, and the talented Lucy Abrams will be your next stop.  Remember, if you find a link that doesn't work, you can always hop back to the Hero Arts Blog for a list of direct links to all the blogs in the hop.

Thanks so very much for hopping by!

Paper Crafts Card Creations 9

Hello all! As I mentioned in my last blog post, I'm catching up on sharing my published creations and doing so by starting with older cards that hold a special spot in my heart. Being a clean and simple kind of girl, vintage creations are not an easy task for me to accomplish. So this card is near and dear to my heart because I feel that this was a successful attempt at capturing that vintage feel. This one was published in Paper Crafts Card Creations 9...I started by stamping a Rustic White cardstock panel with Make Your Own cling stamp in Dark Chocolate. Then colored the dresses in with Copic Markers (V91, Y21 & Y32). Stamped a journaling circle in Vintage Touch Chai and a sentiment in Dark Chocolate, both are from the Journaling Circle stamp set. Then attached the panel, with dimensional adhesive, to a Fine Linen card base. Here's How: To make the yellow strip appear to wrap around the card... I started by die cutting a Fillable Frames #9 tag and trimmed a small cardstock strip to the same width, both from Harvest Gold cardstock. Attached the die cut tag to the left side of the Make Your Own stamped panel, with dimensional adhesive, and the small strip was tucked under and attached to the right side. Here's A Note: The houndstooth stamp I used is no longer available, but Background Basics: Houndstooth makes the perfect alternative. Then finished the card off with a Dark Chocolate button strung with Rustic Jute Button twine.

That's it for today. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

CARDS Magazine Publication

So, it's been a while since I last share any of my published projects with you. I thought it was about time I started up again. I figured I would start with a few of my favorite older creations from previous magazine publications. So, in case you missed it, here is a sympathy card from the March 2011 CARDS issue....This card features two of my all time Hero Arts stamp favorites... the Lace Background and the Dogwood. I started by stamping the Lace Background in Versamark ink onto a kraft card base. Here's A Tip: The card base was trimmed to 3 3/4" wide, to accommodate the flower extending over the edge.I then stamped the card base with the Dogwood image and sentiment in True Black. Here's A Tip: When working with wood mounted rubber stamps (such as the two used on today's card) use a stamp positioning tool, such as a Stamp-a-ma-jig, for perfect placement. Stamped the Dogwood a second time onto Rustic White cardstock, trimmed and attached. Here's A Tip: For added detail, I attached the flowers, at the centers, with a flat Glue Dot and the petals with dimensional adhesive. Then finished the card off with Fine Linen ribbon and True Black buttons.

That's all I've got for you today, I hope you enjoyed! Thanks for stopping by!

2012 Hero Arts Catalog Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the 2012 Hero Arts Catalog Blog Hop. Today I'm joining friends in this blog hop to share previews of the new 2012 stamps. I've got a couple cards to share with you today, so let me get started...First up, I've used the large clock image from the new clear set, Special Time (CL579), stamped it in Raspberry Fizz, Summer Sunrise and Terracotta Tile onto a Rustic White card base. Finished the card off with a sentiment, from the same set, stamped in black. Attached a couple True Black cardstock strips and embellished with a couple buttons.Next up is a fun new clear stamp sentiment set This is Big (CL570). I love clear and large sentiment stamps, they makes perfect placement a breeze. This was the key when crating this card, I wanted the chosen sentiment to stand on its own and to take center stage by stamping it onto different parts of this color blocked card front. I carefully inked the top portion of the sentiment stamp and stamped it onto the edge of a Spring Moss card stock block. Then carefully inked the bottom portion and stamped it onto the edge of an Aqua Mist cardstock block. Both panels were then attached to a card base. For a bit of texture and detail, I heat embossed a clear cardstock panel with dots (from Life of the Party) in clear embossing powder. The clear cardstock warped a little in the process, but I liked the effect and went with it. To attach the clear cardstock to the card base... I first attached a white cardstock strip to the front of the clear cardstock panel. Then, to hide the adhesive, I attached another strip of adhesive behind the white cardstock strip and then adhered to the card base. Finished the card off with a few True Black buttons.

Done with the cards, now how about a giveaway! Hero Arts will be giving away 5 prize packages that include brand new 2012 Catalog stamps. The five winners will be randomly chose from ALL of the blog hop comments received by midnight PST on Monday, December 12, and will be announced on the Hero Arts blog shortly thereafter.

And lastly, hop along to the next fabulous designer!...

Remember, if you find a link that doesn't work, you can always hop back to the Hero Arts Blog for a list of direct links to all the blogs in the hop.

Hope you enjoy the rest of the Blog Hop! Thanks for hopping by!

The Chevron Chic Challenge

Ok, so over at the Moxie Fab World Blog, Cath is hosting a challenge that I just can't pass up...The Chevron Chic Challenge! I'm sure most of you have already seen it and know what it's all about. But in case not, it's all about the trendy trend of Chevron Stripes. You may also be aware of my latest Papertrey Ink stamp set, that I designed, called Background Basics: Chevron Stripes. See... this challenge was made for me to take it on. So, I pulled out my stamps and this is what I came up with...A simple yet trendy single layer card. I used a bright and fun color combo of Hibiscus Burst, Orange Zest, Summer Sunrise, Lemon Tart & True Black. Starting with a Rustic White card base, I stamped two of the Background Basics: Chevron Stripes along the right side of the card base. Here's A Tip: To guarantee perfect placement... I started by stamping the Hibiscus Burst stripes, in the desired position and then stamped the rest.
Pulled out this fun sentiment, from Hero Arts Made With Love sentiment set, and stamped it in True Black. I love how the directions of the sentiment helps to guide your eye across the entire card front. To finish the card, I stamped a butterfly (also from the same Hero Arts set) in True Black and embellished with a few black rhinestones.

What fun! I hope you too will take on the challenge. If you do, and happen use your Background Basics: Chevron Stripes stamp set, please share your creation with me. I'd love to see!!!

That's it from me today. Have a good one and thanks for stopping by!

Just Saying Hello

Hello! Hope you had a great weekend. Just popping in to say hello, and to share a little Hero Arts goodness with you today... Today's card started with Clouds DesingBlock stamped, in Spring Rain, onto a white cardstock block. I then punched a circle and stamped a portion of a sentiment (from Truly Appreciated) in True Black. Before attaching the cloud block, I carefully stamped the Bird in Cage and the rest of the sentiment, in Pure Poppy, onto a white card base.
Finished it off with a Pure Poppy button and baker's twine.
Thanks for visiting!

A Christmas Thank You

Hello and Merry Christmas to you all!

Tomorrow is the big day and I hope you all are ready. Thought I would pop in with one last Christmas card, this time it's a Christmas thank you. I plan to send a few of these out after the big day... A bunch of Hero Arts goodness on this one! Started by stamping the small branch (from Magic of Christmas) multiple times, in Ripe Avocado, to create a large and small branch on a white card base. Colored in with three shades of green Copic Markers.
Stamped the ornament (also from Magic of Christmas) in Scarlet Jewel onto Shimmer White and Shimmer Pink cardstock. Cut out the outer portion from the Shimmer White and the inner from Shimmer Pink. Here's A Tip: I used a kraft blade to trim out the center of the ornament. Attached the layers together with dimensional adhesive and then adhered the ornament onto the card base. Finished the card off with a large silk bow, a rhinestone center and a sentiment from Signature Christmas.

I am look forward to spending Christmas with my family (even though we will be missing a couple people this year) and together rejoicing in the greatest gift ever given, the birth of a Savior!

"She will give birth to a Son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sin." Matthew 1:21

Thanks to all of you for taking the time to visit me and I truly hope you all have a Blessed Christmas!

Thank You For Being So Thoughtful

Hello, all! It sure has been a while since I last posted. My hubby had last week off so I tried my best to stay off the computer and spend the time with him and our little guy. This week has been busy, working on Papertrey Ink release stuff and completing items on my to-do list, and it's been hard to get back into the swing of thing here on my blog. But, now I'm back and I have a little Papertrey Ink and Hero Arts goodness to share with you today!... Stamped one of my favorite Hero Arts images, Outline Magnolia, in Raspberry Fizz onto a white card base. In True Black I then stamped the frame, from Framed, and a Signature Greetings sentiment.
Finished it off with a True Black button and White embroidery floss. The colors were inspired by the latest Color Cue {9} Challenge. Be sure to check it out here!

That's it from me today, got a bunch more to do. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful one!

Embellish Color Challenge Vintage

Time for another Embellish Color Challenge! Check it out... The challenge: To create a vintage themed project using the colors pictured above. The sponsor: Pixie Petals. Check out their gorgeous line of embellishments here.

I must admit, vintage it not my usual style. After putting this challenge off for as long as I could and finally creating a card this morning, I surprisingly found this challenge fairly easy. And here is what i came up with, using a Pixie Petals flower and ribbon...
Started today's card by stamping the Hero Arts Lace Background in Chamomile ink (lightest color in the PTI Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo) onto a Rustic Cream card base. Over that, layered the Hero Arts Wreath Of Leaves in SU Wild Wasabi and a sentiment, from Friendship Jar Holiday Fillers, in Dark Chocolate. Inked the card base edges with the PTI Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo.
Embellished the wreath with antique brads, rust colored ribbon and a yellow flower.

Now it's your turn to join in the challenge fun! Look here for the challenge details, the Design Teams amazing inspiration and a fabulous prize. Hope to see your challenge creations soon!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great one!

HA/PTI Stamp Challenge Day 5

***This is my second post for today. Be sure to stop here to view the previous post.***

It's the 5th and final day of the HA/PTI Stamp Challenge with Jennifer McGuire. Such a bummer that it has to come to an end. I truly have enjoyed working with one of my favorite designers and I've had an amazing time getting to know Jennifer a whole lot better. Thanks Jennifer for allowing me to join you in the fun these last 5 days. And thanks to all of you for tuning in!

Now onto business. Our final challenge is...

combining Hero Arts Outline Magnolia & Papertrey Inks Turning A New Leaf. Here is how it all started for me... Stamped a white card base with the large leaf image, from Turning A New Leaf, in Shabby Shutters distress ink. The smaller matching leaf image was stamped in Peeled Paint distress ink onto white cardstock, cut out and then attached with dimensional adhesive.

The Outline Magnolia was stamped twice. Once onto white cardstock, which I then painted using Glimmer Mist Spray (go here, and scroll down the blog post, for an idea of how this is done), let it dry and cut out. Here's A Tip: For added dimension, the petals of the magnolia were cut and bent up slightly for a more realistic look. Stamped the magnolia a second time onto pink shimmer cardstock and then cut out.
The two magnolia layers were attached together with a single dot of adhesive place in the center. Here is a better look at the dimension that the cut and bent petals add. Also, be sure to scroll to the last photo in this post for a better look at the Glimmer Mist shine.
The assembled magnolia was then attached to the card base atop the leaves. Embellished with black rhinestones and stamped a sentiment from Thoughtful Messages.
Check out that gorgeous shine. Remember to scroll down to the bottom of this post for an idea of how this technique (painting with Glimmer Mist Spray) is done.

Now stop by and see what gorgeousness Jennifer has come up with today! I'm sure she will send this challenge out with a bang!

Hope you all enjoyed this challenge as much as I have! Have a great one!
