SAF 2015: Accessories Challenge - Wooden Bangles

Accessories Challenge time!  Make incredible boutique worthy accessories with a few paper crafting supplies!

Two projects are featured in this slot for the Papertrey Ink Stamp-a-faire...  Erin Lincoln is showing you how to make felt necklaces and I'm sharing my techniques for decorating wooden bangles (via video).   Everything is located on Nichole Heady's blog.
It's been a long time since I last filmed a tutorial, but this occasion called for me to step up to the crafty plate.  In my video I'll bring you a bit of info and a bunch of useful tips on how to take a simple Popsicle stick (which should be shaped and dried ahead of time, detail on how-to are on Nichole Heady's blog) and transform it into a beautifully hand crafted piece of jewelry.
I'll go over two ways to personalize them... 1) using your own stamps and 2) with pattern papers.  The sky is the limit!  The bangle set above is the one I create in the tutorial video.
It would be a good idea to create a few basics in neutral colors and metallics.  These are perfect for mixing and matching, see ideas below.

All supplies are listed on Nichole Heady's blog.

I seriously can not wait to see what you all come up with!!!  I'll be watching!

If your wondering what's going on today, wondering what the winner of the challenge will receive, or just wanting to participate... check out Nichole Heady's blog for all the detail.  Hope you enjoy the challenge!

SAF 2015: Patterns Challenge

Papertrey Ink Stamp-a-faire is still going strong and it's Patterns Challenge time!  Time to create a card based on one of the card patterns that the PTI design team is showcasing.  Mine is above.  For a look at the others stop by Nichole Heady's blog.
I'm showing my versatile side at the moment.  I've taken my original sketch and flipped it to create my cards for this challenge.
Those flowers from the pattern above can represent anything, but the sentiment should be cut to pieces.
Here I've used the So Striking stamp set and dies to create my focal point.
Here I've used Southwestern Style to create hanging strands of pretty patterns.
In a color combo of aqua mist, soft stone and true black.  This time around I attached the stamped white panel onto a kraft card base, a bit different from the first card.

If your wondering what's going on today, wondering what the winner of the challenge will receive, or just wanting to participate... check out Nichole Heady's blog for all the detail.  Looking forward to seeing what you all create for this challenge.

Thanks for stopping by!

SAF 2015: Bridal Challenge

Papertrey Ink Stamp-a-faire day is here!!!  The first challenge of the day...  the Bridal Challenge.  Create an all-white wedding card. Exception to the rule is that the sentiment can be stamped or added in a neutral color.  Check out my submission...
To start things off I stamped the "congratulations" from the Swoosh stamp set in black.
For a bit of white on white layering and texture I die cut branches from polka dot vellum using the Branch Out die and stapled them into place.

Hallows Eve Inspiration

Hello and welcome to day 5 of the Papertrey Ink August countdown!
We're doing Halloween big with one huge dedicated group post! We've all been having fun with today featured products and have come up with fun and fresh Halloween projects.  The design team has got you covered!

Looking for something simple to whip up, check it out!...
Up first, Petite Places: Spooky Manor and the Scene It: Hallows Eve dies.
A little layering of silver and black cardstock to create the layered background, but all focus is on the two toned Spooky Manor.
Here's a little Make It Market Mini Kit: Halloween Pin-Ups love.
The vampire man was creating using the Halloween Pin-Ups dies and pattern paper pack.  The sentiment was also from the kit, but the bats were cut using the Haunted Headstones die set.
 Next... Haunted Headstones.
A simple one layer card stamped in a color combo of plum pudding, lavender moon and orange zest.  Stamped the row of stones first and then finished the card off with a strip of glitter tape.
The last one is simple, yet sweet. It features the Shaker Shapes: Candy Corn dies.  In stead of the typical shaker style, I kept things simple by stamping a sentiment between the stacked die cut shaker shapes.  A little wrapping of bakers twine from the Make It Market Mini Kit: Halloween Pin-Ups kit to finish things off.

Well, that concludes today's look at the new Halloween products. Just remember... all that you have seen today will be available for purchase through Papertrey Ink, beginning August 15th.  More details on these products can be found at the Papertrey Ink blog.

Now, be sure to see what the rest of the Papertrey Ink design team has in store for you today...

Introducing Choose Joy + Twig Wreath

Hello and welcome to day 4 of the Papertrey Ink August countdown!
For today's group post we embrace rustic simplicity and messages from the heart.  When you've got a great image and a heartfelt sentiment, not a whole lot more is needed to create the perfect card.  Thanks to today's featured sets, Chose Joy and Twig Wreath, these necessities are easy to come by.
And so, I've created a simply designed card duo for you.  My inspiration can be found here.
A little black and gold can go a long way, both pop off of a white card base beautifully.
Here's a shot of Choose Joy in action. Here's a Tip:  Stamp the sentiment first and use it as a guideline when stamping your image and placing your sentiment strips.
Next, a one layer card featuring Twig Wreath.

Well, that concludes today's look at the new Choose Joy + Twig Wreath stamp sets. Just remember... all that you have seen today will be available for purchase through Papertrey Ink, beginning August 15th.  More details on these products can be found at the Papertrey Ink blog.

Autumn Style

Hello and welcome to day 3 of the Papertrey Ink August countdown!
Today is the first group post and it's all about updating traditional autumn looks in a more trendy, modern way.  The new Brushed Off stamp set makes it all happen, and what a cool and trendy set this is!  Perfect for fall, or any season.  Just change up the colors of your favorite design and you've got yourself a new, cool card.

We are also pairing this set with new dies, Leaf Silhouettes die set and Branching Out die.  Check it out!...
Let's begin with these marvelous colors.  I mean, bring on the sweaters!  Kraft, scarlet jewel, autumn rose and orange zest make for such a cozy color combo.  I love it!
Here's How:  I started with the summer sunrise and overlapped the edges of one of the Brushed Off image each time I stamped from one color to the next.
This one features the Branching Out die and the Super Swoosh "hello" die.  Cutting them from neutral colors allows them to pop off the colorful backdrop.  A few tiny staples hold everything into place.
Same idea as the first card, just swapped sides.  This simple stamped design could easily be recreated in any color combo you desire.
Here I've used the Leaf Silhouettes die set and the Super Swoosh "congratulations" die.  Again, a few tiny staples hold everything into place.
Well, that concludes today's look at the Brushed Off stamp set, Leaf Silhouettes die set and Branching Out die. Just remember... all that you have seen today will be available for purchase through Papertrey Ink, beginning August 15th.  More details on these products can be found at the Papertrey Ink blog.
