Papertrey Ink - November 2010 Release Projects

I hope you all enjoyed this months amazing Papertrey Ink release! I have more release cards to share with you today. So, let me get started...
First off Fillable Frames #10... Started by stamping the frame in Smokey Shadow and "Enjoy" in True Black, onto a Sweet Blush card base.Next up Year Of Flowers: Mums... Masked off the frame and then stamped the mums in Scarlet Jewel. Finished of the card with a few Fine Linen buttons.
Here is some Color Couture Volume #12... Die cut Fillable Frames #10 from a white cardstock square and attached it to a Fine Linen card base. Attached an embellie to the center of the opening.
Die cut, stamped and attached a Warm Happiness Too tea cup. Finished it off with a little heart steam stamped in Pure Poppy.
And finally, Larger Than Life... This card was inspired by my mom! I remember how she used to hang flowers upside down to dry them and then use them in her dried flower arrangement.
I am in love with this coordinating Larger Than Life die, love how easy it is now to add dimension to these gorgeous stems.

Signature Series Showcase

Hello, and welcome to the final day of the Papertrey Ink countdown. Hope you all are enjoying everything so far! Today is the Papertrey Ink group day post #2 and this time around our focus is on the new Signature Series, designed by the fabulous Dawn McVey. For my projects I've chosen to work with my favorite image out of the bunch, Signature Series: Dress Form.Since I've been hooked on shimmer cardstock lately, I could help but pair it with this very fashionable dress form image. Cut two White Shimmer cardstock strips and attached them to a white card base.
Die cut a Mat Stack #1 from Sweet Blush cardstock, stamped it with a frame (from Mat Stack 1 Collection) in Smoky Shadow and a sentiment (also from Signature Series: Dress Form) in True Black. Then attached the Mat Stack to the card base with dimensional adhesive. Die cut the dress form from White Shimmer cardstock, stamped the image in True Black and attached it to the Mat Stack. Finished the card off with a little white silk bow, attached over the shoulder of the dress form.
Created a perfectly coordinating tag by die cutting a Mat Stack #1 from more White Shimmer cardstock, stamped it with the same frame image (in Sweet Blush) and another sentiment from Signature Series: Dress Form (in True Black). Punched a hole and strung Sweet Blush satin ribbon through (look here for instructions on how this was done).
To finish, I die cut the dress form twice from Sweet Blush cardstock. Stamped one with the dress form image in True Black. The other was trimmed and impressed with the Linen & Canvas Impression Plate. Adhered the two together, wrapped and tied with white silk ribbon and then attached to the tag.

It's A Banner Day

Hello, and welcome to day 4 of the Papertrey Ink countdown and the Design Team group post. This time around Nichole has asked us to create both a small-scale and large scale banner project incorporating all the new banner products.

I, along with some of you, have been waiting for a banner set up like this! Banner Builder and it's amazing line-up of coordinating dies, is more than I could have ever dreamed up myself. Now that it's finally here, I've been able to create a project that I've been dreaming up ever since inspiration struck me at the last baby shower I had gone to. My friend, and expecting mother, pulled a gorgeous light pink and navy blanket out of one of the gift bags and I was in awe. The blanket had a white background with a navy toile pattern all over it, with a light pink solid border. I immediately wrote the color combo down onto the nearest napkin, along with a couple of design ideas. I couldn't wait to play!

Anyways, here is what came of it...For this banner card, I started with a white card base (measuring 3 3/4" X 5 1/2") and attached Shimmer White die cut clouds (I'm telling ya, I'm hooked on this shimmer cardstock stuff!).Die cut, stamped (in Sweet Blush) and pierced two holes at the top of each banner flag. Strung the banners onto Enchanted Evening baker's twine, arranged and attached to the card base (with dimensional adhesive), over the clouds. Tied a single bow from the twine and attached it with a dot of glue. Finished it off with a sentiment from Up, Up & Away stamped in Enchanted Evening.
Here is a coordinating festive baby banner. This idea would be great for a baby shower or even as a gift for new parents to proudly display in their babies new home. Anyways, being inspired by the new In Bloom dies, I pulled out my In Bloom stamp set for this project. Stamped the blooms and leaves, in Enchanted Evening, onto white die cut basic banner flags and topped each one with a die cut Pink Shimmer banner border top.
Punched two holes at the top and attached a letter circle to each of the banner flags. For the letter circles, I stamped each circle with a letter from Outlines Alphabet in Enchanted Evening and then filled it in using a navy Copic marker. To form the banner, I strung white silk ribbon through the holes of each flag and then embellished each with two Sweet Blush buttons.
Here's A Tip that I found helpful when recreating the banner flags. For perfectly placed and punched holes: Punch holes into the first banner flag and use these holes as a template to mark hole placement on all other flags.

Take Three: Winter

Hello, and welcome to day 3 of the Papertrey Ink countdown! Today I'm super excited to share with you Take Three: Winter (available November 15th). Which is the next and final set of the seasonal Take Three series, designed by Alli Miles. Along with this set, Alli has designed a die to coordinate with the entire series. The Take Three Die cuts three squares at once or can be used to cut a frame/series of windows with three opening for the shapes. How convenient is that?!

Today, I'll be sharing a few ideas using both the new Take Three: Winter set and the matching Take Three Die. This set contains two different design elements, a flourish and snowflake, which are perfect for the fast approaching winter season. This simple creation showcases the gorgeous flourish and three of the sentiments/words.
Stamped the three flourish squares onto white cardstock squares (cut using the coordinating die) in Pure Poppy. Stamped the words onto a strip of cardstock in Dark Chocolate, cut and attached them over the flourish squares. Impressed a Dark Chocolate strip using the Book Print Impression Plate and attached it to an Aqua Mist card base (measuring 4 1/4" X 5"). Then, with dimensional adhesive, attached the flourish squares.
Next up the snowflake. For this glittery goodness I used a single snowflake image, which I stamped in Versamark onto Lavender Moon, Sweet Blush & Melon Berry cardstock. Sprinkled with Heat & Stick powder, which I used to embellish each square with glitter. Then, using the coordinating die, I cut out the row of squares from a white cardstock rectangle, rounded each corner and stamped with the sentiment (also from Take Three: Winter).
Cut out, by hand, the glittered squares and attached them behind the opening with dimensional adhesive. Attached the entire piece to a Smoky Shadow card base and finished it off with a True Black button.
Shimmer cardstock has quickly become one of my new current faves. I have found that it's easy to work with and makes the perfect shimmery snowflake. Stamped the snowflake images, in True Black, onto Shimmer White die cut cardstock squares.
Arranged and attached the squares to a white card base (measuring 3 3/4" X 5 1/2") using dimensional adhesive. Stamped the card base with a sentiment (also from Take Three: Winter) in Enchanted Evening and embellished each flake with blue rhinestones. A super simple creation, but the simmer really makes the card!
Isn't that flourish image just stunning! Stamped one image onto three die cut white squares in Simply Chartreuse. Attached them, using dimensional adhesive, to a piece of white cardstock which had been adhered to a Fine Linen card base. Die cut a border from Lavender Moon cardstock and attached it to the bottom of the card, using dimensional adhesive, just under the bottom square. Stamped a sentiment in Lavender Moon and finished it off with a hand rolled Lavender Moon flower.

After seeing this fabulous tutorial on hand rolled flowers, I had to give it a try for my self. I added a little twist to my flowers by cutting the spiral using scalloped scissors. Here's how I created mine...
Punch a circle from cardstock. In this picture I have 1 3/4" & 2" punched circles to show you that different sized circles with give you different sized flowers. Using scalloped scissors cut outside diameter and then cut a spiral inside the punched circle.
Slightly bend back the scalloped edges. Then, starting from the outside point of the spiral, roll the end inward. Keep rolling and bending the scalloped edges out until you reach the center if the spiral.
At this point you can make the flower as tight or as loose as you like. Once your happy with the look of your flower, turn over and cover base with adhesive (I used Glue Dots).
Use the spiral center to cover the adhesive and create a clean and finished look.
Now attach to your projects!

So their you have it! I hope you are as please with the projects as I am. Thanks to Alli for creating such an amazingly versatile stamp series. It's kind of sad to see this series come to an end. But now I have a very useful and gorgeous collection of images in my stamping arsenal that I can pull out and use again and again!

Wplus9 November Release: Group Post

It's day 4 of the Wplus9 November release. Today, the design team has come together to share a few treat ideas, all dressed up for holiday gift giving and featuring the Homemade Holiday Bundle. This bundle includes both All Occasion Tags & From The Kitchen Of.

For my treat, I baked some yummy Banana Bread... To dress things up a bit, I created a wrap for the pan using Pure Poppy cardstock and then wrapped it again with some white twill ribbon and tied into a bow. Topped it off with a cute little tag.
Stamped the tag image (from All Occasion Tags) in True Black onto kraft cardstock, cut it out and punched a hole at the top. Used the second label image, from the same set, and stamped it in True Black onto Christmas Prints pattern paper. Cut it out and attached to the kraft tag using dimensional adhesive. Punched a circle from white cardstock and stamped it with "Made With Love" (also from All Occasion Tags) and holly (from RetroGirly Christmas). Colored the holly in and attached the circle on top of the tag. Then tied the tag onto the wrap with some button twine.

Wplus9 November Release: Day 3

Today is day 3 of the Wplus9 Design Studio November release. Things are being done a little different this month, all of the new sets being released are all available now. So that means Classic Christmas (debut on Day 1 here), RetroGirly Christmas (debut on Day 2 here), All Occasion Tags & From The Kitchen Of (making their it's debut today here) are all available for purchase as I type! :) Check out the store here!

Today's card features three of the new sets... First up the tag image, from All Occasion Tags, was stamped in True Black onto white cardstock, cut out and attach onto a Fine Linen card base.
This gorgeous ornament (from Classic Christmas) was stamped in True Black onto Shimmer Pink, Shimmer White and Raspberry Fizz cardstock, cut out and pieced together. Also from the same set is the fancy ornament string. Really love all the little details in this set! Finished the card off with a sentiment from RetroGirly Christmas, stamped in Raspberry Fizz, and a Raspberry Fizz button tied with silk ribbon.

Embellish Bags Color Challenge

Time for another Embellish Color Challenge! Check it out... The Challenge: To embellish a bag using the colors pictured above. The Sponsor: It's In The Bag. Check out their great line-up of bags here.

Here is what I came up with, using the small glassine bag...
Here's an goody bag idea perfect for the holidays, parties or even as wedding favors. Here's how:
Start with a 3" X 9" strip of cardstock and a small glassine bag. Score the cardstock strip at 4" & 5" to create a wrap.
Insert goodies into glassine bag and fold the top down. Fold the cardstock wrap at scored lines and wrap around the glassine bag. Punch two 1/8" holes through the top of both the bag and wrap. Thread ribbon through and tie into a bow.
Embellish the bag/wrap as desired. I've embellished mine with two Soft Stone cardstock strips. A Limitless Labels die cut from Shimmer Pink cardstock and a white circle stamped with snowflakes and a sentiment from Friendship Jar Holiday Fillers. Finished it off with clear rhinestones.
