Square Prints Day Two

Hey there! Thanks for joining me for day two of the Papertrey Ink January countdown. I'm back today to bring you more of my new set... Square Prints.  From the looks of it, it sounds as if some of you are as excited about these set as I am!

Now onto today's creation...

I bring you... a one layer masculine card.  The border along the two edges was stamped using two images from Square Prints.  These two images (along with an additional third image) were styled to fit together perfectly.  By simple rotating the corner pieces you could stamp borders of any color or fun flowing patterns.
The Papertrey Ink colors I used are enchanted evening, aqua mist, summer sunrise and limeade ice.  After stamping the border I layered a couple images from the new (and soon to be available) Destination stamp set, in enchanted evening.  Then finished the card off with a sentiment from Embroidered Blooms

Well, that concludes my second look at Square Prints. Just remember... this stamp sets will be available for purchase through Papertrey Ink, beginning January 15th. In the mean time, I'd love to know what you think so far, so please feel free to share!

Now, be sure to visit Nichole Heady and Heather Nichols for peeks at Destination and World Map.  Also, Dawn McVey and Melissa Bickford have peeks to share with you of their newest sets for the month.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Autumn Acorns & Background Basics: Houndstooth Day 2

Hello all! It's day two of the Papertrey Ink Countdown. I hope you all are enjoying everything so far! Well, I'm back today to share some more of my latest stamp sets... Autumn Acorns & Background Basics: Houndstooth. This time around I've chosen to focus on the masculine abilities of these two sets. So, here are a couple of cards perfect for the man in your life!...For my first card, I started by stamping a border, using the smaller pattern from Background Basics: Houndstooth, in Versamark onto a kraft card base. Then rounded the bottom right corner.Die cut and stamped the leaves, acorn top and acorn bottom, from Autumn Acorns. I applied the Rock & Roll inking technique to the acorn, using Ripe Avocado and Dark Chocolate inks. Stamped the sentiment and wrapped the card base with some Rustic Button Twine. This second card is a play on this fun sentiment. I die cut a Half & Half strip from a Pacific Vineyard pattern paper block and attached it to a Rustic White card base.Die cut and stamped the acorns in varying shades of green. I arranged the acorns along the side of the card base to make them appear as if they were falling and then attached them, with dimensional adhesive, at different heights. Finished the card of with "Falling For You", also from Autumn Acorns.

So, I hope you've enjoyed these last two days of Autumn Acorns and Background Basics: Houndstooth. If you can't wait to get your hands on these sets, just remember they become available starting August 15th at Papertrey Ink. And remember... I'd love to know what you think, so please share!

Now, for even more sneak peek goodness, be sure to visit Nichole Heady , Dawn McVey, Heather Nichols & Melissa Bickford.

Papertrey Ink - April 2011 Release Projects

Hello guys! I hope you've enjoyed this months Papertrey Ink release. I have a bunch more release cards to share with you today. So let me get started... First up, Grunge Me by Tiffany Pastor. This set is a ton of fun and right off the bat I knew it would work perfectly with my set Modern Basics. Boy was I right, I love the end result.
I started by stamping the large Modern Basics border image in Summer Sunrise. Then layered a few Grunge Me images in Enchanted Evening and Raspberry Fizz and a sentiment in True Black. I can't wait to pair these two together again.
Next, Tag-its #3 by Heather Nichols. So far this is my favorite of the Tag-it series, although I think I say this every time. I love the style of this card! It's a bit out of the normal for me, but it makes me happy.
I love how easy it is to turn the tiny flower bunch into a flowery row, by simply stamping the image over and over again. What do you think of the butterfly?! I attached five Love Lives Here butterflies together, in the center, and the spread the wings apart with dimensional adhesive. Gives the card a ton of dimension!
How about some My Hero, My Dad, another set by Tiffany Pastor. This set includes a ton of sentiments perfect for guy cards but it also includes a few very versatile images.
I was able to create this awesome pattern with a few of those images. I love sets like these, that give you unlimited pattern building options.
Next up, Flower Fusion #3 by Melissa Bickford. I've been waiting for for this third set! I've been anxious to recreate this (third card down in blog post) card idea, using all of the coordinating Flower Fusion flower stems together. I used the same basic technique as before. Although, this time around I stamped the stems across the entire length of the card.
Stamped and attached a vellum sentiment strip with some hidden dimensional adhesive and embellished with a few die cut Flower Fusion flowers.

Also, Train Tracks by Beth Silaika. This train is so stinking cute!!! Cutest train I've seen yet. I created a hand stamped pattern using the different train parts stamped in Pure Poppy, Ripe Avocado, Summer Sunrise and Stormy Sky Distress Ink.
And this little guy makes me smile, because he was so easy to make and he's adorable. Die cut from kraft cardstock and then touched him up with a few matching Copic markers.
Last, but not least! Ad Sense and Boy Basics: Simple Circles both by Lisa Johnson. Check out this label, love the shape! Stamped it using a few of the images and sentiments from Ad Sense.
And this border die is soooooo versatile, it can go from this (with a few buttons) to this (pictured above) using the coordinating Boy Basics: Simple Circles set and a few other images from Ad Sense.

So there you have it! All supplies used are listed in the Papertrey Ink gallery.

I hope you've enjoyed the goodies from yet another fabulous release! I'd love to hear what you all are looking forward to receiving the most from this months release! Can't wait to see what you create!

Miss You!

Hello, all! Hope you all don't mind too much but, things are going to be pretty quiet around here. I'm going on vacation! It's been a while since my family and I have had a real vacation so, this should be very nice.

Now, how about a Papertrey Ink card...Punched a circle from Spring Moss cardstock and impressed it with Linen & Canvas Impression Plate. Then stamped a sentiment from Flutterby Friend.
Stamped a bit of foliage (in Ripe Avocado, Simply Chartreuse & Spring Moss) behind the circle using stems from Flutterby Friend. Then finished it off with a few Dark Chocolate buttons, rustic button twine and a cute little snail also from Flutterby Friend.

Thanks for stopping by, have a great one!

All Booked Up

Hello and welcome! This months Papertrey Ink Design Team group post is all about reading and books. I know one certain little man who happens to love both, my 3 year old son Isaiah. He and a couple of his favorite books were my inspiration for today's ensemble. The two books he is holding in the photo above are his current faves, A Fish Out Of Water and Adventures of Frog and Toad. Isaiah loves story time and if it was up to him, story time would last all day! With a few intermissions to play outside, of course! :)

A Fish Out Of Water is a book which was given to him by my mom (his Grammy), after she bought him a couple of fish to enjoy at her house. It's all about a fish that grows and grows uncontrollably. He really gets a kick out of this fun story.

Adventures Of Frog And Toad is a compilation of many short story. Each story is all about a certain adventure that happens in the lives of a couple of close friends. Which makes this book perfect for pulling out and reading a few short stories at a time. So, this is when a bookmark comes in handy to save our spot for next time...
Included in this months release is a gorgeous book/reading stamp set called All Booked Up, created by Nichole Heady. Which is what I used for today's ensemble. From the set I chose to work with the Mat Stack #3 image, one of the circular images and two of the sentiments. Taking inspiration from Adventures Of Frog And Toad, I chose to work with a color combo of Kraft, Dark Chocolate, Simply Chartreuse & White.
Used the coordinating die, Bookmark & Bookmark Topper, to create the bookmark from kraft cardstock. Impressed the bottom half with the soon to be released Book Prints Impression Plate. Stamped (in Simply Chartreuse), punched out and attached the circular image over a Dark Chocolate cardstock strip stamped with a "Save Your Spot" sentiment (in Fresh Snow). Finished it off with a Simply Chartreuse ribbon tab.
Isaiah wanted to join in and help show off the coordinating card. :)
Used the Book Prints Impression Plate on the front of a kraft card base, on top of that attached a die cut Mat Stack #3 (stamped in Dark Chocolate). I actually flipped the mat upside down, stamped the sentiment, punched a hole at the top and topped it with a Simply Chartreuse ribbon tab. Stamped (in Simply Chartreuse), punched out and attached the circular image over a Dark Chocolate button and cardstock strip.

One thing that I have learned from these many story times is, that I need to cherish each one while I've still got them! As you know, children grow up way too fast! I truly hope and pray that, as my sons quickly grows, his love for books and stories will grow and increase with him.

The Design Team has much more All Booked Up to share with you today. So, be sure to stop by...
I hope you have enjoyed everything I shared with you today and thanks for taking the time to visit!

Crazy About Color Couture

On the first of the month, the Papertrey Ink Senior Design Team and Nichole Heady participated in a group post that focused on the Color Couture product line. This inspired me to pull out my Color Couture stash and play along. For today's card I used the color scheme and one of the circle sentiments from Volume 4...Started the card out by using the inspiration colors to create a gradient colored woodgrain strip. Used Background Basics: Woodgrain stamped in Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist, Spring Moss, Ripe Avocado & Ocean Tides. Then attached the strip to a True Black card base cut to 5" X 3 1/2".
Punched the sentiment out using my 1 3/4" circle punch and attached it over a few true Black buttons.

Tune in tomorrow and I will share a bright, fun and girly version of this simple masculine creation.

Hope you all enjoyed your weekends! Have a good one!

Happy Birthday, Birthday Boy!

Hello friends! I have a simple little Papertrey Ink creation to share with you today... So, this little car from Enjoy The Ride is just too cute! I had to pull him out and of course give him a couple racing stripes again (like the card on this post). Mounted him up onto a Spring Rain cardstock circle (impressed with the Sunshine Impression Plate), since I didn't get a chance to use this Impression Plate earlier for my release projects. It's such a fun look! Then used the border image, stamped in True Black, from For The Graduate, to create the sentiment strip.
Aren't those head lights just too perfectly cool! So excited about them! I had recently acquired these glass brads that I had been saving for just this purpose. Used Copic Markers to draw, by hand, the racing stripes and then to touch up the card with a few chrome accessories/parts.

That's it from me today! Hope you have a great day and thanks for taking the time to visit!

Boys to Men

Hello all and welcome! This months Papertrey Ink release is all about the boys and men in our lives. I personally know how tough creating a masculine project can be. But Nichole and the other designers have come up with the perfect stamps and supplies to make this tough task easily manageable! Nichole had given us, the Design Team, the task of reinventing the term "masculine" and to make it something fun so that you and I won't dread tackling it.

So here is what I came up with...I chose to work with the fish image from Masculine Motifs (which Nichole has not introduced yet, so here is a sneeky peeky!) and paired it with Background Basics: Woodgrain. My idea behind combing these sets was to create the look of water, using the texture of the woodgrain, for the fish. As soon as I saw the fish, my mind immediately turned the detail of the woodgrain into flowing or rippling water. I accomplished this by heat embossing the woodgrain onto Enchanted Evening cardstock. So what do you think, did it turn out? Don't you just love it when you can get so much more use out of stamps than what they were intended for?!
I don't know about you but, I rarely use those buttons with the brand names etched into the tops. I'm just too picky. But I have recently realized that these buttons make the perfect embellishments for masculine cards. The text really adds a lot to the texture and depth, yet aids in keeping the card clean and simple. Now that's my kind of embellishment!

To get a serious eye full of masculine inspiration, tips and ideas, check out what the others have come up with:
When you're done, I'm sure you all will be ready to tackle those dreaded "masculine" cards!

Thanks for stopping by!

Enjoy the ride

Hello all! I am on my way out the door but I wanted to pop in a share a fun sort of masculine card with you before I go... The background was stamped with stripes from Background Basics: Retro in Ocean Tides and Spring Moss. Rounded the corners and wrapped it with ribbon.
Stamped the bike in brown and attached the buttons with some fun stitching. Attach a brown scalloped edge, rounded the corners, and attach to the striped background making sure to hang the scallops over the edge for a tad bit of interest. All these rounded corners make me happy, it's such a simple touch but really makes for and fun card.

Hope you have a blessed day!
