Garden Variety Continues

Welcome to the final day of the Papertrey Ink Countdown and the second design team group post day. This time around we bring you Garden Variety Additions, designed by Nichole Heady, a perfect compliment to the original Garden Variety. Each of us has picked an inspiration piece to start us off. Here's what I chose to work with...This photo, found here, is what spurred today's two projects.First up, a direct interpretation of this gorgeous frame. I began by stamping a Rustic White card base with a few violets in Smokey Shadow ink.Stamped and embossed a Hawaiian Shores die cut Seed Packet Frame 2, attached a sentiment tag and embellished with black and gray rhinestones. My second project takes inspiration from within the frame, the colors in particular. After die cutting a seed packet from Rustic White cardstock I stamped the Garden Variety II pot, leaves and blossoms in a color combo of Smokey Shadow, Simply Chartreuse and Melon Berry.I then folded and assembled the packet. Here's An Idea: I attached a small ribbon tab to the top edge so that the packet could be easily attached to a package, gift bag or etc. Continuing with the frame idea, I die cut the Seed Packet Frame 2 from Smokey Shadow pattern paper and attached it with dimensional adhesive. Finished it off with a button and ribbon bow.

Well, there you have it. I hope you've enjoyed! Now, be sure to see what the rest of the Papertrey Ink design team has in store for you today...

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Two very intriguing projects, Maile. The Hawaiian Shores "frame" is so impressive over the larger flowers in the background of the first project. In the second one, I was impressed by the offset focal image. It's so tempting for me to always center my image. This is much more interesting. Thanks for the inspiration.
